Information about the UHI HI Links project

The aim of the HI Links project was to enable UHI to become the heart of a Highland and Islands knowledge economy and to develop all commercial opportunities where-ever possible.

The project funding came to an end 31 May 2011, and members of the team have moved on to other duties. However, if you are interested in accessing UHI expertise please email Joe Irvine, Head of Knowledge Exchange in UHI, who will be able to direct your enquiry.

If you are interested in accessing expertise from any other Scottish University or Research Institute, please contact Kathryn Fraser who now works for Interface (the Scottish universities knowledge connection for business).

The project helped to nurture a culture of innovation, research and commercialisation across the Highlands and Islands region, helping provide greater access to research and development resources through collaborative project and therefore providing businesses with a competitive advantage. For example:

  • developing new added value products or processes
  • reducing costs
  • developing new markets
  • increasing sales
  • improving efficiency
  • developing new technology or business systems
