Colonsay tourism workshops

On the 21st October Fiona Smart (UHI HI Links) and 2 academics, Professor John Lennon and Stewart Bell (Moffat centre, Glasgow Caledonian University and Edinburgh Napier University respectively) travelled to Colonsay for successful 'Maximising my business potential workshop' for local tourism providers on the island. The workshop was very well received and was a mix of presentations and one-to-one meetings with local businesses.

Food and Drink events in Stornoway and Dingwall

On August 23rd and 24th UHI HI Links held 2 events, one in Stornoway and one in Dingwall. Both events featured the same 2 speakers, Jennifer Bryson, Food Innovation at Abertay and David Lamb, Scottish Agricultural College. These food and drink experts spoke to the many delegates who attended about new product development and getting your product to market.

Greener business seminar - Thurso

On Monday 30th August UHI HI Links held an event in Caithness Horizons, Thurso with 2 academic speakers from Edinburgh Napier University, John Currie and Jamie Pearson. The speakers gave some interesting ideas for how a business can save money and become greener, by looking at a range of factors in the business, including waste management strategy, renewable technologies and much more.

This lecture at the Centre for Health Science, explored the theme of exploiting technology to diversify and grow your business. Dr Harwood (of The University of Edinburgh Management School) has kindly allowed us to post his presentation.

The Knowledge Exchange Strategy Meeting on 14th July was attended by representetives from HI Links, HIE, UHI, HIFRS, SNH and the board of CPP. A full report of the meeting has been distributed to committee members and a copy of the report is available on request.
